JerseyDigiscoping with Kowa Prominar Digiscoping is a photo method which involves attaching a compact or DSLR camera to a Spotting scope while achieving focal lengths from about 800mm to around 4000mm. JerseyDigiscoping features Bird and Wildlife Photos, tech bites, and some new equipment reviews along with my journal of my outings. All my captures are taken exclusively thorough Kowa Prominar 880 series scopes. Enjoy JerseyDigiscoping ,,,Kevin Bolton

Greater Yellowlegs
Birded Mill creek marsh for about two hours, I located alot of young Foster Terns but they were just a bit to far to Photograph.
I did manage to capture this Greater Yellowlegs but that was on Thursday , another notable Bird to mention which was at DE-Korte, Tri-Colored Heron, also met up with Jim Schlick briefly he should have a more detailed report if he manages to Bird De-Korte and Kearney marsh. www.jerseybirder.blogspot.com/

Hot!Hot!HOT!!!!!
Hello,
Birded De-Korte with a conventional Photographer Ami , by 10am the humidity got unbearable in hence finishing the day.
There is still a number of Short Billed Dowitchers ,Greater Yellowlegs, Lesser Yellowlegs ,with Semipalmated and Least Sandpipers ,and what threw me a Black-Billed Cuckoo early migrant?
My best captures of the day were a Barn Swallow and Catbird see Flickr page.

Marsh Wren at 90 degree"s
Hello,
Birded De-Korte again and the heat and humidity was terrible only decent pshots I could pump out today with the Vortex Skyline ED was this Marsh Wren singing on territory, as for the singing captures they did not come out as good being my Shutter speed was only 1/144 ,
Speeds at 1/500 and above are optimal for the freezing affect.
Good Birding,

Lesser Yellowlegs
I did not go to Mill Creek Marsh today it was closed for some unknown reason which left me a little lost, so I headed back on route 3 west and went to DeKorte park of the Hackensack Meadowlands which I was a little disappointed that the gates do not open till 7am which gives me about 1 hour lost Digiscoping time but , when the gates were open the tidal flats were alive with Shorebirds on Migration ,I counted about 60 to 80 Short Billed Dowitchers ,20 Greater Yellowlegs, 8 Lesser Yellowlegs ,and a good number of Least and Semipalmated Sandpiper"s .
I like this area for Birding but for Digiscoping it is hard to get close to the Birds at times plus it is hard to get a good sun angle too. P.S Thanks Jim S for the correction.
Good Birding -Kevin

Shutter Release cable
My shutter release cable with hot shoe adaptor that is made for the Nikon P5100 by srb- Griturn of the UK arrived today this Cardinal is proof ,and I hate using the self timer with 3 second delay that's not my preference!
If I had not used the cable with this one my results would have suffered, by the way this shot was taken at a bad sun angle too.
Take care

Short Billed Dowitcher
Today at Mill creek marsh the shorebirds really moved in I counted about 100 Semipalmated Sandpiper, 3 Semipalmated Plovers , 20 Least Sandpiper, 6 Greater Yellowlegs, seen by others Solitary Sandpiper.
Its about time I had some decent Dowitcher shots but I had to pay a price ,by getting down and dirty into the muck, these birds are slightly cropped with minimal Photoshop enhancement .
By the way the Dowitchers were really tame allowing me to be within the sweet spot range 25 to 35 feet, Greater Yellowlegs now that's another story they can be wary at times.
