White Crowned Sparrows on the move

A little belated report so sorry ,when I arrived at the Meadowland s on Sat I was greeted by the song of numerous White Crowned Sparrows what a treat ,the only problem was to get one off the ground to perch for a capture, so I can say I have more ground shots so they were a little spooky.

Looking for a fight!

After an un- eventful Birding morning at Garret Mountain, I decided to hit Hofstra Park and see what I can find I almost had a zero for the day when I approached my Truck and seen fluttering which happened to be a Chipping Sparrow aggressively sparing with his reflection in the side view mirror, so I sneaked up in which the Chippy was oblivious to me .

Garret Mountain Treats

It is that time again the Spring migration is on, and this past Thursday working with sub-par light I did manage to squeak out a few captures of early Migrants, including Hermit Thrush, Eastern Pheobe, Red Breasted Nut Hatch and a distant Spotted Sandpiper.

Orlando Wetlands Park

Another great outing we had was at Orlando Wetlands a freshwater area, about 20 miles east of Orlando .
Coots and Common Moorhen were both abundant at the park.

A lovely Swamp Sparrow was oblivious of our scopes and posed for us among the Cat Tails.

Both Glossy Ibis and White Ibis were in full show with all the iridescence enhanced by the Sun light.
And American Alligator were in Abundance including some giants!

What was a real treat was an Crested Caracara working a Turtles nest with some Black Vultures!
it was great getting the wonderful Raptor capture as a lifer too what a great trip ,though I wish I had
more time for Birding and DigiScoping !

Florida DigiScoping Merritt Island + Orlando Wetlands Part 1

I recently ventured outside the Jersey Zone to sample some fine Digiscoping opportunity's and to pick up some lifers to boot, also I had the utmost pleasure to to shoot and Bird with Roy Halpin, without his knowledge my trip wouldn't have been nearly as good.

First stop was Merritt Island Seashore wildlife refuge with I had a chance with some Roseate Spoonbills

White Ibis were also abundant , also I had to chuckle about the story Roy told me about the White Ibis.
