Working with the Nikon V1

Hello all I recently picked up the Nikon V1with the 10-30mm kit lens,,and I am quite impressed with the detail unlike the CanonS100 , I am not using the Vortex PS100 so those that decide to buy the V1 the way I apply it is with the Kowa TSN-DA3 support rail , the only problem is that I can not do portrait captures when using the Balance rail.

Here are some samples...

Kevin,

Thank you for sharing however I am seriously need to know how does the V1 will act on dimmer areas or even on low light. I am at Borneo and most of our birds are well hidden in the forest. Maybe some sample in a forested area (similar to a tropical vegetation).

Very keen admirer of your blog.

Cheers,
Denis

Kevin, can you expand a little on your experience w the s100? Specifically while using the variable X spotting scope. We're you able to get photos w/o vignetting throughout the zoom range of the spotting scope w/o much trouble? Also, you said the detail on the v1 was better, but did you think the S100 was bad? I thought you were taking great photos w the s100. Thanks

Denis,,

Sorry for the late reply,,but to answer your question the Nikon V1 has great high ISO noise handling+a great auto focus as long as you use some kind of Shutter release cable with shutter speeds under 1/125th of a second it should work fine or the self timer also consider the wireless remote which only fires 1 frame at a time though,I will send you a pic of my custom bracket with the SRB shutter release.

Sally ,,
Glad you enjoy my blog thanks you..

Steve,,

Yes the S100 is still a great choice ,,my problem is I get option anxiety with different eyepieces ,Cameras, adapters ect.
I will be posting more with the Canon S100 soon ,,The only thing I prefer with the NikonV1 is the 10 to 60fps other wise the resolution and image quality are great..
