Two different editing techniquie's

I was just going through some of my new files from the SD4000 and thought I would try Mike's editing method along with mine the crop is slightly off on the  Song Sparrow, and being the perfectionist I try to achieve with my Photos I have a hard time figuring the best way, critique welcome.
Also I had a chance at some Tree top Cardinals along with some more Song Sparrows, sorry for being so repetitive with the same species but I am still trying to fine tune the SD4000 and find the sweet spot with it.

Hi Kevin,

what are those editing techniques you are referring to?

For the Song Sparrow thumbnails shown in your post, the first one looks clearly sharper to me. However, for the full size images, I agree, it's difficult to see a significant difference.

Sononfon.

The first edit is Mike McDowell's technique, which the only difference is he apply s Un-Sharpen mask before the size reduction and adds a little more if needed when sized up for the web , in which I kind of prefer that method compared to mine in which I Sharpened after I did all my downsizing.
