Shorebirds North Bound

Decided to check out Mill Creek Marsh for some Northbound Sandpipers, all though the lighting was not to great I did manage to squeeze out a few Breeding Plumage Least Sandpiper"s .
In the next few weeks the Semipalmated Plovers and others should be passing through,
after a week of chasing Warblers with my Kowa 883 the Peeps were a refreshing change.

Challenge?
Yes !!! A decent Warbler capture and of all subjects one of the most difficult a Northern Parula, I gonna tell you to get one of these guys to hang on a branch for your focus lock to do its thing you may think it is easier to win the lottery, but I found my opportunity when he paused to preen about 40 to 50 feet in distance, remember patience.

Egrets at Mill Creek
I started to Bird Mill Creek Marsh again though the diversity of Warblers in the spring is limited it does shine for them in the fall, other wise Snowy Egrets and Herons are not in shortage .
This Snowy Egret was very trusting at about 120 feet, the max you would want to be to keep the detail on a Bird this size.
Peeps should also be migrating through soon.

Garret Mountain the #1 Migrant Hot-Spot

Ask any Birder in the northeast particularly New Jersey Birders if they had only 1 Spring Migration Hot -Spot for the last week of April through the First two weeks of May it would most likely be Garret Mountain, nestled in the Watchung Mountain range overlooking lovely Paterson New Jersey.
Bill Elrick can give long testimonial about Garret for Quality Spring migrants along with Quantity with the likes of some of the more Rare species such as Mourning Warbler Cerulean and others passing through.
If interested Bill is an experienced guide with a number of great Birding locations notched in his belt, if you are looking for a guide

Selecting a Insect Repellent

Did you know that Deet in time deteriorates Rubber plastic and other materials that your Optics are constructed with.
Every time you lather with the ole Bug Spay I can hear your favorite Binocs or Scope screaming I'm melting! DEET IS BAD!
Repel Lemon Eucalyptus is GOOD!
I have been using this product for about two years and it works well on keeping everything from Deer Ticks to the Bombastic Salt Marsh Skeeters away as good Deet influenced products will perform , and as a plus the Smell is quite pleasant.
